Know How To Make French Toast

French Toast
French Toast
Husband or family ask you to make French Toast and you don’t know how to? You’ve come to the right place.

Step by step guide to use up stale bread, hot, steaming French toast is a perfect addition to a brunch, as well as making a appetizing cold weather breakfast treat. Just go along with these steps, and you'll soon be floating in the eggy bread decency.
  • 3 eggs per loaf of bread (1 egg for every 2 slices of bread)
  • Non-stick spray, olive oil, or butter/margarine
  • Cinnamon (season to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) vanilla extracts (vanilla essence, optional)
  • Bread (as many slices as you want), type of bread is up to your preference
  • Powdered sugar, syrup, jam, etc.
  • Milk (depending on number of eggs, 2 tablespoons per egg)
1. Now set your stove or electric pan to high heat. Gently Place the pan over the burner if cooking over the stove. Add non-stick spray, olive oil or butter so that the bread will not stick to the pan and difficult to get off.
2. Gently spread the fat across the pan if needed, or mop up any excess.

Round Down Tips:
  • An easy estimation for the amount of milk to add is to add about as much milk as there is egg in the bowl before you beat it, then beat and mix the egg and milk at the same time.
  • Eggs will blend much better if allowed to sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes prior to cracking.
  • French toast was initially made as a way to reuse stale bread, so a better result will be obtained if the bread is stale.
  • Use hard bread (a baguette or bakery bread) and soak it in the mixture to soften it before cooking it in the pan. Factory-made sliced bread may have a soggier result.
  • Using stale raisin bread can eliminate the need for cinnamon and vanilla extract.
  • For parties and special occasions, try using cookie cutters on the bread before soaking it in the mixture! The different shapes are ideal for party fun.
  • Sprinkle sugar over the bread while it's in the pan before flipping it – this will create a crunchy layer of caramelized sugar.
  • Any leftover mix can be used to make scrambled eggs.
  • Don't fry the bread at full temperature or it will burn and still be raw from the inside. Try using medium heat.
  • Sometimes, when making a large amount or to avoid soggy bread, it's easier to mix the egg mixture in a bowl then pour a bit in a round cake pan for easier dipping. Just set the bread in and flip.
Things You'll Need:
  • Bowl
  • Pan (if using stove)
  • Stove or electric pan (your preference)
  • Fork or whisk
  • Spatula
  • Serving plate

Searching For How To Start Your Own Blog?

Searching For How To Start Your Own Blog?
Blog
These day, everybody wants to own a blog but most people don’t know how to. I have been blogging since 2008 and I can tell you its fun to blog about something you really enjoy writing about. I always enjoy explaining the advantages of having a blog over a traditional website, but it is a lot information to take in over dinner. I thought I would document the process to make it easier to understand.

Now, these steps will guide you to great that the blog of your choice.

1. Deciding What You Want To Blog About:
Yes. There are millions of bloggers on the web already. To be able to be a focusyou’re readers, you need to establish your integrity. Don't just blog about anything. Pick a topic you are obsessive about. Something that you have lots of knowledge with.

Still On Deciding: To Host or Not To Host
Most people don’t know about this, most people do but don’t have the facilities for it. When it comes to creating a blog, your principal decision will be whether you want to host the blog yourself, or use a free blogging service that is hosted for you.

We Have Free Blogging Services:
Are you surprised? Don’t be! It’s free. But when you start a blog with a free blogging service, you don't get your own domain. You get something like knowshowto.blogspot.com (where there are a million other blogs at blogspot.com).

Talk About Cheap: - Host your own blog using WordPress free Blog software
This is the method I suggest, because it offers much more flexibility and freedom to do what you want. You will have your own domain name, like knowshowto.com. You can get this for as little as $30 per year. In my experience, WordPress is excellent free blog software that allows flexibility and room to grow.

If you want to go the free blogging service route, check out links to free blogging services. If you want to host the blog yourself, read on.

Getting Your Domain Name:
Don’t be scared, the part is the fun part. You already know what your blog is about, so now you have to find a good domain name.

Finding The Right Web Host for Your Blog:
By far, the easiest way to get a website is to go with a hosting company that offers "1 click installs", or instant installations for Blogging and Forum software. Blogs and Forums make it promising for someone with no knowledge to get good content up fast.

"1-click" (easy) Installation
Dreamhost Hosting
For beginners, I recommend Dreamhost, because they tend to care, where as many other huge hosting companies don't. They cost a bit more, about $119 for a year, but it is worth it. Edit: I actually used a promo code and was able to get 1 year for about $60. Go to: Dreamhost.com and enter Promo Code: WMLGS1 to save $50.

(New) GoDaddy Blog Hosting
Another great blog host I recently learned about is GoDaddy. They have a 'one click install' Economy WordPress hosting plan that is really a great deal (as low as $3 to $5/ month (that's $36 to $60/ year) depending on how long you sign up for). Go to GoDaddy to check it out.

Standard Hosting:
1and1 Hosting
If you are on a budget, I recommend 1and1 hosting. They are much less expensive, but the one thing to be aware of is that it takes a little bit longer to get good support at 1and1. Having said that, I have been using 1and1 for over 4 years (this site is hosted at 1and1). Compared to a lot of other hosts, they have an extremely user friendly control panel, and their servers are extremely dependable. Prices start at 3.99 / month. For more information, go to 1and1.com

Installing WordPress:
Installation Overview If you have knowledge with installing web applications that use mySQL, this could take as little as 5 minutes to do, and the 5 steps below may be all you need, however, I have further explained each step below for beginners.

Make sure your host meets the requirements.
Make sure you have a database ready with proper username and password.
Download and unzip WordPress.
In the WordPress folder, find and make a copy of wp-config-sample.php. Rename the copy to wp-config.php and fill in your database details. Save the new file.
Upload all the files to the directory in your web host where you want the blog to live -
Run the installation file. install-folder/wp-admin/install.php.

Requirements:
To run WordPress your host just needs a couple of things:

PHP version 4.2 or greater
MySQL version 4.0 or greater

Create a Database
You can usually do this in your hosting control panel. If you aren't sure how to do this, ask your hosting company. After you have set it up, you should have 4 pieces of information about the database.
1. Database Name - The name of your database.
2. Username - your database user name.
3. Password - Your database password.
4. Host name - This is going to be a host name. It might be something like mysql.mydomain.com, or just localhost.

Without these 4 things, you won't be able to set up WordPress. Again, contact your hosting company's tech support if you have any trouble with this.

Download the current version of WordPress.
This is easy. Just go to wordpress.org/download/, and download the current version. You have a choice between the ZIP file or the TAR.GZ file. I think the TAR.GZ file may be smaller, but I always download the ZIP.
Uncompress the WordPress ZIP file.
Again this is easy.

Configure WordPress
Open the WordPress folder and rename the file wp-config-sample.php to just wp-config.php. Now open it and insert the 4 pieces of information about your database into the 4 fields below.

Change:

define('DB_NAME', 'wordpress'); // The name of the database
define('DB_USER', 'username'); // Your MySQL username
define('DB_PASSWORD', 'password'); // ... and password
define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value

to

define('DB_NAME', 'yourDatabaseName'); // The name of the database
define('DB_USER', 'your-username'); // Your MySQL username
define('DB_PASSWORD', 'your-password'); // ... and password
define('DB_HOST', 'your-hostname'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value

Choose Your Install Directory and Upload Everything
If you want your WordPress blog in a separate directory of your website, like “yourdomain.com/blog”, then rename the “wordpress” folder to “blog” and upload it to the root directory with an ftp program.

If you want your blog to be in the root directory of your site, meaning the blog will be located at “yourdomain.com”, then just open the wordpress folder and upload all the files and folders into your web root. If you already have a file called index.html, or index.php, you'll need to rename it or get rid of it before you uploading everything.

Finish and Install
8. In a browser, go to the domain where you uploaded WordPress, and then to /wp-admin/install.php, and follow the simple directions there.

You will be given a username and password. Save it in a safe place.

That's it. You now have a new blog. You can now log in with your username and password, and start writing.

Download a WordPress theme
This is the fun part. Picking a WordPress theme. There are many places to find WordPress Themes. When you find one you like, just download it and unzip it just like you did with the WordPress ZIP file.

6. Add Your Theme
You can do this after you upload, but it's probably easier to just do it now.

Look for the themes folder. It's in the wordpress => wp-content => themes.

There should already be 2 theme folders in the themes folder, “classic” and “default”.
Just drop your new theme folder in with them. (Remember, it must be unzipped first)

HOW TO: Download YouTube Videos to Your Desktop

youtube logo

DISCLAIMER: As some of you have pointed out in the comments, downloading personal copies of YouTube videos is not supported by the YouTube Terms of Service, which states:
“You may access User Submissions for your information and personal use solely as intended through the provided functionality of the YouTube Website. You shall not copy or download any User Submission unless you see a “download” or similar link displayed by YouTube on the YouTube Website for that User Submission.”
We want to stress that most of these tools do violate the ToS and that if you use them, you do so at your own risk. Also , if you’ve been tempted to download for a better browsing experience on the big screen, don’t forget YouTube has already got you covered on that with YouTube XL.

It’s been a while since we looked at ways to download YouTube videos to get local copies of your favorite vids, and we thought it might be time to take a look at which options are still left standing and what new apps are worth checking out.

For those of you new to the concept, you’ll need to know a couple of things. Many of these sites and tools simply grab YouTube videos in their native Flash format (FLV). To watch these files on your desktop, you’ll either need to get yourself an FLV player or convert the files into another format you can watch in your media player of choice (or on your iPod/iPhone, cell phone, or wherever the videos will ultimately end up).

Some of the listed tools include FLV players or file format converters along with the video download functions. Choose your poison according to your needs and patience level — if you do a lot of downloading it might be worth your while to check out the more full-featured apps.

And now, on with the list!

This is by no means a comprehensive list — we left out a number of sites and apps with nearly identical features to the items on this list. And though we included a few freemium and paid apps, we avoided some of the more costly tools in favor of the free and cheap in this set.

There’s also sure to be some apps and sites we just don’t know about yet — so if you have a favorite tool for downloading YouTube videos to your desktop, let us know in the comments! If you’re listing a paid app, be sure and tell us why it’s worth paying for.

Know How to Bake a Cake In Sime Simple Ways

Nothing warms the soul like a thick, rich slice of freshly baked cake. Even if you've had problems baking in the past, there's no need to be intimidated by the process. Baking the perfect cake can be fun and simple if you follow these basic steps.

Start by reading the ingredient list and directions before you begin. It's important to have every ingredient you need ready to go. You don't want to be running to the grocery store during preparation. The final product can flop if a key ingredient is left out.

1. Prepare your cake pans.

Be sure to have the correct size or shape of the pan. Bundt cakes require bundt pans, while others can be baked in a variety of sizes. You can also refer to a cake pan size table.

Grease pans to avoid sticking. Use about a half of tablespoon of butter or vegetable shortening on a paper towel and rub the inside of the pan. Sprinkle about a tablespoon or two of flour on top. Flour the pans on the sides to help the cake adhere to the sides as it bakes. This will ensure that the top is flatter, which is important for layered cakes. Shake and dump out any excess flour and set the pans to the side

2. Have all ingredients at room temperature, unless the recipe directs otherwise. Key ingredients such as flour, sugar, vegetable oil, and water are typically stored at room temperature, while others such as butter and milk needs to be cold prior to using.

Double check the recipe concerning eggs, while many box mix cakes request cold, other recipes such as cheesecakes require eggs to be at room temperature. This is to avoid any curdling and affecting the cake texture.

Preheat the oven to the required temperature from the recipe

Measuring the Ingredients
1Measure ingredients as accurately as possible and add them in the order specified. Most cake recipes begin combining dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, cocoa, etc.), then adding wet ingredients (eggs, oil, and milk). Be sure to take special prerequisites such as sifting, whisking or beating, and packing before adding to the main bowl.

Mixing the Ingredients
1. Mix the cake batter as specified on the recipe. Some recipes can be mixed with a stand or hand mixer. Be cautious as steps can instruct to fold in flour or other ingredients with a rubber spatula. While mixing, stop occasionally to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula or spoon to ensure that everything is mixed thoroughly.

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Fill the pans 2/3 of the way full, as the cake will rise during baking. Gently tap the cake pan on the counter top to release any large air bubbles in the batter.

Baking
1. Place the pans on the center rack of the preheated oven. Do not allow pans to touch each other or the oven wall.

2. Close the oven door and immediately set a timer to the specified baking time. If there's a time range, use the median or middle number (bake it for 35 minutes for a range of 34 to 36 minutes or 53 minutes for a range of 50 to 55 minutes). Using the median will ensure that the cake won't under or over cook. Resist the urge to open the oven door during baking, as the heat will escape and may cause the cake to cook unevenly. If applicable, turn the oven light on and view through the oven window.

Check for cake doneness. Gently insert a toothpick or wooden skewer in the center of the cake. If it comes out clean or with a few small crumbs on it, the cake is done. If not, place it back in the oven for another 3-4 minutes. Keep testing for the same amount of time until you get the correct result.

Cooling
1. Place the pan on a wire rack to cool for 15 to 30 minutes. Run a butter knife around the pan edges to loosen the sides. Place the wire rack over the top of the pan, invert it, and tap it lightly to remove the cake.

Let it cool completely before decorating since the heat will melt frosting and icing. Frost and decorate as desired.

Enjoy!
